NRUMC 40th Anniversary Celebration!
Thanks to everyone who made our 40th anniversary such a wonderful weekend! We served together through a variety of
projects, including the packaging of over 10,000 meals for Stop Hunger now, We fellowshipped together at the block party,
the anniversary lunch, and the receptions after the services. And, most importantly, we worshipped together and were
challenged by God's vision for NRUMC in the past, present, and future.
If you missed any of the services, please visit the special services audio page
to listen to audio from any of the services (Sauturday and Sunday evening or any of the three Sunday morning services).

Alpha Course
Alpha is an opportunity to explore the meaning of life in a relaxed, friendly setting. The Alpha
course meets once per week for 10 weeks, and includes an amazing overnight getaway on Nov. 11-12. Each session,
people enjoy a great meal, laughter and learning in a fun and friendly atmosphere where no question about
life or God is seen as too simple or too hostile…questions like—Is there a God? Why am I here? Where am I
going? Why do people suffer? Is forgiveness possible?
For more information, download the Alpha course flyer.
To register for the course, go to the signup
page and click Register. If you don't already have a user name, click Need a login? on the
next screen. You can also register by calling the church
office at 847-1536. There is no charge for the course.
The kick-off dinner is Tuesday, October 4th at 6:00 PM, so register now!

Disaster Relief
There are many people in our area who were devastated by Hurricane Irene and the spring tornadoes and need your help
to recover. Here are some specific things that you can do to help:
- One of our members has donated a mobile home that will go to a family in need of housing. but this house needs
furniture:
- bunk beds for 8 children
- a bed for the mother
- a table and chairs
- a washer and dryer
- other furniture such as a sofa
If you can provide any of these furnishings, please contact the Missions chair, David Bass, at
djbass@mindspring.com.
- Assemble homecoming kits and collect baby diapers and wipes, feminine hygene products, and canned food for
people affected by the hurricane.
- Volunteer to help with donations. Volunteers are needed to sort, assemble, and pack donations (at the Goodwill
warehouse in Durham), to load trucks, and to load and drive your truck to receiving warehouses.
Go to the disaster relief page for details about the homecoming kits orany of the other needs
for hurricane relief.
If you can help in any of these areas, please contact djbass@mindspring.com..
