Have you ever noticed that in December traffic on the road, in shopping malls, and even in parking lots is magnified. Attendance at worship services is magnified, and yes, even our intake of cookies is magnified. And, if we listen to Christmas songs on the radio and watch television ads, we begin to think that our joy can be magnified, if only we purchase or receive that perfect gift.

I think this is perhaps why depression can be magnified at Christmas as well. Those who do not feel joyous, those whose lives are not picture-perfect begin to feel inadequate or left out of the joy that everyone else seems to have.

Here at North Raleigh, we realize that we are imperfect people at Christmas time and every other time. And so we welcome one and all with this simple message: the gift of Christ is for everyone; it is a gift, not something we earn.

And so I invite you to worship with us this season. I invite you to become a part of our community. I can assure you of a warm welcome and unconditional acceptance, as best we can we share with you the love that Christ has for each and everyone of us.
