Lisa Mooneyham, Administrative Assistant – EMAIL LISA
I am the first person you see or hear when you visit or call North Raleigh UMC! I provide administrative support for our staff and our Discovery classes, put together the church newsletter, and keep our Membership rolls updated. I have served as interim youth director at NRUMC for a few months in 2006, then joined the staff in 2007.
I am almost a native of Raleigh (since age 5) and graduated from NC State in 1983 with a degree in Business Management. I’ve worked for Disability Determination Services, been a stay-at-home mom, and spent many hours volunteering in my kids’ schools, at NRUMC, and with a Pop Warner cheerleading program.
I’m married to Scott, who works as an accountant for Wake County Public Schools and coaches Pop Warner youth football. We have 2 daughters – Kelly graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill and works with Cru at UNC. Erin, a graduate of NCSU, is pursuing her dream of being an Occupational Therapist (at UNC!…yes, we are a house divided!) In my free time, I enjoy following NC State sports, reading, the beach, spending time with family and friends, and working out when necessary.
We have been NRUMC members since 1989, and my favorite thing about NRUMC is definitely the people. We have such a friendly, welcoming congregation!
Jo Hardy, Parish Administrator – EMAIL JO
As Parish Administrator, I have oversight of the day to day operations of the church in the areas of facilities and administration. I also coordinate with the staff, volunteers and church leadership to insure all areas of ministry are connected and supported.
I have worked at NRUMC since March 1, 2014. I have been a Methodist all my life. I began attending NRUMC in April of 2012 and joined the church in September of 2012. Before coming to NRUMC, I served as Parish Administrator of a downtown Raleigh church for eleven years. Prior to that, I worked as a commercial real estate broker and asset manager in Raleigh and Memphis, Tennessee. I am truly blessed to have the opportunity to share my career and life experiences in ministry here at NRUMC surrounded by fellow staff and church family as we “discover extraordinary life in Christ together.”
I am originally from Danville, Virginia and lived in Memphis, Tennessee before moving to Raleigh almost 20 years ago. I am an only child but never really felt like one, having grown up among loving parents, grandparents and lots of aunts, uncles and cousins. I attended Danville Community College, Danville, Virginia and Memphis University in Memphis, Tennessee, majoring in business administration.
My family includes a son, daughter, son-in-law, and grandson. My son, Russell, lives in Manteo N.C. and works for a custom home builder. My daughter, Meri, son-in-law Rob, and grandson, Zachary (Zack), live in Wake Forest. Meri is Hospital Manager at Durant Road Animal Hospital and Rob is with Schindler Elevator Company. Zack is 15 years old and a 10th grader at Heritage High School. Last but certainly not least is Maggie, my 6 pound Chihuahua rescue and best friend.
In my free time, I enjoy baseball (especially when Zack is catching), gardening and antiquing.
Ken Black, Business Administrator – EMAIL KEN
As Business Administrator, I am responsible for the accounting, finance, contribution reporting, financial reporting, payroll and other related functions. I also manage the benefits for our employees as well as the insurance on church property and other insurance coverages. And I am responsible for preparing and presenting financial information at the monthly Finance Committee meetings and to the Church Council.
I have worked at NRUMC since March 2014. My family and I have attended NRUMC since 1988. We enjoy the variety of worship and discipleship opportunities, and the friendly and caring members.
I was born in 1952 in Norwood, Massachusetts, but grew up in Charlotte.
I have one sister who still resides in Charlotte.
I attended Duke University, graduating with a BA degree in Management Sciences and Accounting in 1974. After graduation, I worked for the Charlotte office of an international CPA firm for seven years. I left for private industry in 1980, working as a Divisional Controller of a financial services company headquartered in Charlotte. We moved to Raleigh in 1987 when I joined First Citizens Bank from which I retired in March 2013.
Janet and I were married in 1973 when I was still a student at Duke. After we moved to Charlotte, Janet obtained her degree in Accounting from UNCC. Janet also worked for the Charlotte office of an international CPA firm for several years. She retired from the workforce for a number of years upon the birth in 1983 of our twin sons Doug and Kevin. Janet works seasonally for a Raleigh CPA firm during tax season. Doug and Kevin both graduated from NC State with undergraduate and Masters degrees in Accounting, and work in Raleigh. Janet and I have three grandchildren, Claire, Owen, and Essie.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time at our Holden Beach house with our family. I also read and walk/run.
Lawrence Stewart, Communications Coordinator – EMAIL LAWRENCE
As Communications Coordinator, I am responsible for making sure the congregation and the general public understand our mission and ministries through consistent branding, design, and effective communication.
I have worked at NRUMC since March 2014. Even though I have been attending services and singing in the choir since 2004, I didn’t become a full member until 2010. I love NRUMC mainly because of the warmth that the congregation emanates toward everyone that comes through the doors. The music program is second to none, and the diversity that we have within our membership makes for such a strong bond between us all.
I’m Mississippi born and bred, having lived in the “Golden Triangle” of Starkville, Columbus, and West Point for 21 years. I’m a “happy accident,” the youngest of three, with a brother 11 years older, and a sister, 7 years older. My mom and stepdad reside in blissful retirement in Columbus, MS.
Having been told that I could do whatever I wanted to do, I studied at Mississippi State University (Go Dawgs!), where I received my BFA with an emphasis in graphic design. In the past, I’ve worked for Qualex, Inc., The News & Observer, Duke University, and Leith Marketing.
In my free time, I enjoy renovating my home, landscaping, going to the movies, and reading.
Tim McWilliams, Facilities Coordinator – EMAIL TIM
As the Facilities Manager, I am responsible for the day to day maintenance of church buildings and grounds in all areas and services not outsourced through maintenance contracts. I also work closely with vendors and suppliers to insure the church buildings and grounds are maintained to the highest possible levels.
I have served on the youth council and been active with ASP mission trips serving in Tennessee, Virginia, Kentucky and West Virginia. I have also been on Mexico and Peru mission trips. I have also enjoyed chaperoning the youth Student Life trips and various mission projects.
I am from Baltimore, Maryland and have resided in Raleigh since 2003.
Before moving to Raleigh my profession was in the hotel industry having help positions in Operations and Administration. I am also an entrepreneur, starting Tim’s ToolBelt LLC in 2009, specializing in home repairs and improvements.
I am married to Karen, who works for Concord Hospitality as the Sr. Director for Revenue Strategy. We have 2 sons, both in high school. Justin plays football, wrestles, and serves on the youth leadership committee. Timmy is active in horseback riding, Handful of Praise, Illuminate, and loves singing and acting as well as playing the guitar. My daughters, Courtnei and Connor, live in New York and enjoy fashion, art, and travel.
