Pastors

Duke Lackey, Senior Pastor – EMAIL DUKE

What an honor to be appointed to North Raleigh UMC as the Senior Pastor and lead this Community of Faith in living out our Vision and Mission. North Raleigh has a wonderful Congregation and Staff using their gifts to Encourage, Discover, and Live faithful lives in Christ. I am thankful to use my gifts of Preaching, Teaching, and Leading to complement this thriving Community.

I’ve served 6 congregations in the NC Conference completing the last seven years as pastor of Faith Harbor UMC in Surf City, NC.

I grew up in Wilson, NC attending Wilson Fike High School and graduating from Atlantic Christian College (now Barton College). I attended Duke Divinity School graduating in 1987. I received my Doctor of Ministry Degree from Wesley Theological Seminary in the area of Spirituality for Life Together.

Bettina and I have been married for 33 years and have two sons. Caleb graduated from UNCG and works with State Employees Credit Union. He is married to Kathleen, a Middle School Music Teacher. David graduated from Brevard College, majoring in Wilderness Leadership Experiential Education. He works with Outward Bound taking youth and adults into extended stays in the Wilderness.

I enjoy reading, going to the movies, walking for pleasure and exercise (with our dog Bella), Duke Basketball, and being with people.

Bettina and I are looking forward to becoming a part of this thriving community of faith, getting to know you and sharing in North Raleigh’s vital ministries that invite people to live fully into God’s transforming grace.

Ashley Will, Associate Pastor – EMAIL ASHLEY

I currently serve as the Associate Pastor with focuses in “Care and Connection,” Evangelism, and Mission. I also work alongside our senior pastor and staff to align and fulfill the mission of the church.

Prior to coming to North Raleigh, I served a variety of United Methodist congregations of a variety of sizes and contexts in Atlanta, Georgia, while working towards my Master’s in Divinity from Candler School of Theology at Emory University. While in Atlanta, I served a new church-start, an urban 7,000-member traditional church, a mid-size suburban church, and as a hospital chaplain intern. I am passionate about discipleship (and all it entails—care, service, continual learning) along with seeing the church engaged in the broader community, and am excited to serve in this capacity at NRUMC!

Prior to moving to Atlanta for Cameron’s job and my seminary work, I received my BA in Global History from UNC-Chapel Hill with minors in Social and Economic Justice and the Study of Christianity and Culture. I’m originally from Apex, and my husband, Cameron, is from Cary, so we are ecstatic to be returning home to North Carolina. Cameron and I love spending time doting over our rescued Manchester Terrier, Sadie, which often includes trips to the park. We also enjoy being with our immediate families who are all in the area. I’m looking forward to getting to know you more and serving with you in ministry!
