Preparedness Plan

Thank you for your ministry to North Raleigh United Methodist Church through your welcoming spirit. Continued development in our ministries is essential to fulfilling our call to “offer a safe and caring environment for anyone searching to be spiritually fulfilled and accepted.”

Earlier this year, Pastor Duke Lackey created a committee to assess NRUMC’s level of preparedness and to develop a plan to improve the ability to react effectively when and if we are confronted by unexpected incidents. While finding the perfect plan is impossible, the committee has analyzed our preparedness and has developed a phased plan to increase awareness and preparation to respond when required.

Since we are a church community, we must always endeavor to become a more welcoming congregation and maintain an open environment. We must assure that any plan balances those tenets with safety and security. Next Sunday, June 10, we will implement the initial changes proposed by the Preparedness Committee. During Sunday services, we will limit the number of open ingress doors and the hours during which they will be open. All doors on the campus will continue to be available for egress from the buildings. The doors indicated below will be open as indicated. All other doors will be locked.

Sanctuary/Fellowship Hall: 7:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

  • Entrance doors on either side of the Lobby
  • Entrance doors to the Atrium

Lower Level Classrooms/Office:

  • The primary entrance door to the church office and classrooms on the lower level (north side) will be locked, and currently we need an attendant to monitor it from 7:50 a.m.-8:35 a.m. and from 9:35 a.m.-9:50 a.m. To reach the lower level at any other time, please enter via the entrance doors on either side of the Lobby.

Education Building: 9:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m.

  • Entrance door on south side across from Youth Building

Youth Building: 9:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m.

  • Entrance doors on south side adjoining driveway across from fence

We need about 20 volunteers each Sunday to help carry out our Preparedness Team plan. There are many time slots and different locations on our campus to serve. If you feel called to serve in this capacity, please click the button below to sign up!
