On the New Testament side, the first scene is the birth of Christ . The gospel of John
tells us the "the Word became flesh and
dwelt among us" and that it is the light of the world that has come to dispel the
darkness. When Christ is born among us, the light of God is made real and present
in our lives and the darkness of the world cannot dispel it. Now one of the things I love
about this window is the star above; the star that shines down on the newborn Christ,
and it's a beautiful, beautiful star. You may have noticed, and one of the
things I like about it the most, is that the star becomes a cross, a precursor of all
that Chrst was about to do. And you've also noticed, I'm sure, that the star
literally shines down on Joseph and Mary and the baby. But what you may not have
noticed is that the light reflects back. It goes back in purples and reds and
surrounds the star, and it is the beautiful representation of God's glory, not
only coming to us, but returning to heaven where it began.
